The people of these agricultural villages are the poorest of the poor! The Ali Shungu Foundation was established to assist and benefit these communities with programs improving the health, education and general welfare of the people and to eventually provide opportunities to earn a living without emigrating to the cities. We are now concentrating on our community, Yambiro. Most villagers live with no indoor plumbing, no sewage, no access to water for agriculture, no health care and severely inadequate facilities in the schools. There is little aid from the national government. The average per household income is less than $1000. per year. The Ali Shungu Foundation will finance no administrative costs. All contributions will go for materials or Scholarships. Labor is provided by the communities. Many, many thanks to all! Frank and Margaret |
