"IMPROVING THE HEALTH, EDUCATION AND WELL-BEING OF FIVE ANDEAN INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES" |

The people of these agricultural villages are the poorest of the poor! The Ali Shungu Foundation was established to assist and benefit these communities with programs improving the health, education and general welfare of the people and to eventually provide opportunities to earn a living without emigrating to the cities. Most members of the five communities, about 4000 persons, live with no indoor plumbing, no sewage, no access to water for agriculture, no health care and severely inadequate facilities in the schools. There is little aid from the national government. The average per household income is less than $800. per year. The Ali Shungu Foundation will finance no administrative costs.
