Young ladies from 5 Indigenous communities near Otavalo are receiving scholarships to help pay for high school. In many cases, it is the scholarships that have convinced parents to allow their daughters to continue studying. These are interviews with each young lady, telling a bit about themselves and thanking those who have contributed. |

With the help of a donated laptop computer, Huaita Sisa Saransiq and Deisy Farinango help create an index for the Yambiro Library, which is being funded and stocked by travelers, teachers and schools. "A house without books is like a room without windows. " |

Many, many thanks to Chris Taylor and the folks at Barnes and Noble in Asheville, North Carolina for the time and effort that went into collecting books for the children of the Andean village of Yambiro. The books will help form a rural library. |

With the help of Srta. Anna Taft, Doctors from Montana have organized a medical mission to provide free medical check-ups for children and adults in the rural areas surrounding Otavalo. These programs provide much needed attention! |

Brian Holden is a 5th grade teacher from Vancouver, B.C. The students of Brian's class collected school supplies and Brian and his wife Gail lugged them down to give to the Yambiro school. Students will exchange letters and art. |

Alexandra Gehring and her family from Arlington, Virginia hauled down several suitcases of school supplies provided by students of her daughter's grade school and high school. These efforts help over 120 students from families that can not afford basic supplies. |

Students from the University of Wisconsin under the guidance of Dr. Chris Olsen visit Yambiro for the fourth year during the first week of June to treat cows, pigs, dogs, cats and sheep for intestinal parasites. This video was recorded last year. |
