Projects -- Scholarship Program 2005-2006

Elsa Marina Perugachi

Elsa Marina Perugachi is 14 years old and in the 8th grade.  Community leaders of Yambiro chose Elsa as a recipient of a $100. scholarship.  Elsa's dad is a laborer, her Mom watches the livestock that the family owns. Both are very active in community affairs, never missing a minga. Elsa is the eldest of five children in this very poor family and the first in the family to study beyond sixth grade. She is very smart and has a great personality.

Maria Juliana Gualsaqui

Maria Juliana Gualsaqui, 14, of San Juan Loma, is in the 8th grade and also aspires to be an accountant.  She is the oldest of six children.  Her parents are very poor, living on what they earn with their small plot of land.  The scholarship of $100. takes an enormous burden off of her parents!
