Tia Eugenia Farinango is a community leader of our villages. She speaks of the significance of an education to a young rural Indigenous persons. And, on behalf of the villagers, she thanks all of those that have supported the Ali Shungu Scholarship program.
Your contribution will go toward the education of a gifted, but extremely poor, young indigenous person from one of the five communities.
The new president of Ecuador has eliminated High School Registration fees. But there are still many costs for the parents; books, uniforms, schools supplies etc. and these costs add up! Most parents can not spare the money, what with many other children to support and especially for young ladies, who are usually needed to work in the home. Your contribution will cover most of these costs and provide an incentive to send their children to study rather than to work.
